Dr. Joan Steidinger, CC-AASP is a licensed ports psychologist, Certified Consultant in Sports Psychology by the Association of Applied Sports Psychology and a member of the USOC Registry of Sports Psychology. She taught at UC Berkeley Extension for over 15 years and wrote “Dr. Joan’s Sports Psych” for SFGate.com, the San Francisco Chronicle website and Psychology Today with the online column “Blood, Sweat, and Cheers,” that focused on female athletes, relationships, and sports performance. She’s currently writing a book, “The Girlfriend Instinct: Relationships Do It for Female Athletes.”A former competitive ultra runner and ultra distance cyclist Joan has begun running ultras again to raise educational funds for Nepali children.
